Travel / Hotels

We are aware that international travel requires a bit of extra effort and we appreciate each and every one of you who is making the journey for us.

The following is some information to help you plan your travel, including the airport you will need to fly into and hotels we recommend near the area.

Friendly reminder to please check your passport expiration date. Six months’ validity is strongly recommended. At least 4 months’ validity beyond your planned date of departure per Spain’s guidelines.

We also recommend arriving 3-4 days prior to the wedding to combat jet lag and better enjoy all of the festivities.

Flights

Connecting flights are available from all major US cities to the Vigo Airport (VGO), with the layover usually being in the Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD).

If you want to find cheaper flights, we recommend booking a direct or connecting flight to Madrid (MAD) from any major US city, and then purchasing a flight from there to Vigo (VGO) through Iberia Airlines’ website.

Accomodations

Suggested accommodations are a quick taxi ride from the Vigo Airport (~30 minutes) into Baiona, the area where you will be staying.

We will be establishing bus pickup points at a later date depending on how many guests stay in each hotel.

Wedding Events

The night before the wedding on Friday, July 26th, from 5-8PM there will be an informal get-together for guests of both the bride and groom to mingle with one another atop the Monte Santa Tecla in La Guardia.

Transportation will be provided by bus, with the bus starting in Vigo and stopping in Baiona to pick up the rest of the guests before finally heading from Baiona to the mountaintop. The event will last from 5-8PM where snacks and drinks will be provided, and we recommend that you bring a light coat or jacket as the mountaintop will feature some winds. After the event, the bus will then return guests to Baiona and Vigo. This same bus will transport guests on Saturday morning to the wedding ceremony.

Additionally, the day following the wedding on Sunday, July 28th, beginning at 1PM the parents of the bride will be hosting a brunch at their home. All are welcome to attend, though transportation will not be provided.

** Saturday, 27th of July **

Ladies: For dresses, choose a midi length dress; a chic pantsuit is also appropriate. The more colorful the better!

Men: Wear a suit and tie.

We kindly ask that you avoid colors traditionally reserved for the bride such as whites, ivories, and creams.

Weather: During the day it could get very hot and humid but in the evening/night it almost always gets chilly. We recommend you plan on bringing a shawl or something light just in case.

If you have any further questions, please reach out to the bride with any questions.

FAQs

What time should I arrive at the church?

The ceremony starts promptly at 1pm. We strongly recommend arriving 30 minutes beforehand, so that everyone can find seating with no rush. The church doors will open at noon.

To avoid any distractions or mass interruptions, the church doors will be closing at the start of the ceremony.

Will there be transportation provided?

We will put at your disposal a bus shuttle service from the area around the recommended hotels to the Monastery, from the Monastery to the Pazo, and from the Pazo back to the initial pickup points.

Please confirm if you will be needing this service when you fill out the R.S.V.P. form.

In the days leading up to the wedding, we will publish on this page the schedules and bus stops, based on where the majority of our guests will be staying.

What is the dress code?

Spain has quite strict wedding etiquette regarding the attire so please do your best to follow it as it is a cultural practice. Click the button below to see a list of the things that one should pay attention to.

Keep in mind that this is a religious ceremony so please dress accordingly.

Can I bring a guest/date?

We unfortunately cannot accommodate additional guests. Due to limited capacity, we can only allow the people named on your invitation.

Your invitation will be made out to “{Your Name} & Guest” if a plus one has been given to you. If not, we would prefer that it was just you.

Are kids allowed?

Due to limited numbers, we hope you appreciate that children are only invited if named.

Your invitation will be made out to “The {Your Last Name} Family” if your children have been invited.

Your invitation will be made out to “Mr and Mrs {Your Last Name} if only you and your significant other have been invited.

Will the reception be indoors or outdoors?

The reception will be mostly outdoors so please plan accordingly. There will be a lot of grass and some uneven terrain so we recommend that you wear comfortable shoes.

During the day it could get very hot and humid but in the evening/night it almost always gets chilly. We recommend you plan on bringing a shawl or something light just in case.
